Lecturer – Fashion Merchandising Program
Karen Hampton, M.F.A. is a Lecturer in the Fashion Merchandising Program in the Department of Art at Howard University. She recently relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area to join the Department of Art faculty. She is also a practicing textile studio artist, whose artwork offers a window into the historical lives of African American women and children. She was recently awarded the Eureka Fellowship from the Fleishhacker Foundation to conduct research for upcoming body of work, which will be featured in an upcoming solo exhibition. In the Fashion Merchandising Program, Professor Hampton is primarily responsible for the studio design courses. She currently teaches Clothing Construction, Patternmaking & Draping, Product Development, AutoCAD, Textile Design, Traditional Dress and Textiles, and Sustainable Fashion.
