Master of Arts Graduate Program in Art History
Students applying for acceptance into the Master of Arts program in Art History must have a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 for admission into the program. Applicants with a GPA between 2.5 and 3.0 may be admitted on probationary basis and may be required to take one or two undergraduate courses without credit towards the M.A. degree. To remove the probationary status, students must receive a satisfactory report from the instructor of such courses and must obtain a GPA average of 3.0 or better in their first semester at Howard.
Failure to obtain the required GPA will result in automatic suspension of the student from the graduate program. - The non-refundable $45 application fee (check or money order ONLY)

- Official transcripts must be submitted directly from the Registrar’s Office from ALL colleges and universities attended

- Statement of Academic and Research Interest
- Autobiographical Sketch (Personal biography)
- Resume
- Two letters of recommendation sent directly to the Office of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions in a sealed envelope Word (MUST BE IN SEALED ENVELOPES)
- McNair Scholars Application- A letter is required. Submit names from the program director, official transcripts sent directly from all colleges and universities attended.

Caution to Prospective Students
The Board of Trustees of Howard University on September 24, 1983, adopted the following policy statement regarding applications for admission: “Applicants seeking admission to Howard University are required to submit accurate and complete credentials and accurate and complete information requested by the University. Applicants who fail to do so shall be denied admission. Enrolled students who as applicants failed to submit accurate and complete credentials or accurate and complete information on their application for admission shall be subject to dismissal when the same is made known, regardless of classification.”
