The Department of Art is housed in the Fine Arts complex, conveniently located on the main campus in the District of Columbia. The Department of Art Office is located on the first floor in Lulu V. Childers Hall adjacent to the Howard University Art Gallery. The Gallery serves as the main gallery space for the Annual Student Art Exhibition, Annual Faculty Exhibition, Thesis and Senior Shows.
Located on the second floor are classroom spaces for Art History and Fashion Merchandising and Studio and Lab spaces for Ceramics, Design, Painting, and Photography programs. Interior Design classes are held in the Howard H. Mackey Building (School of Architecture and Design). Electronic Studio Program conducts classes and labs in facilities in the Undergraduate Library. The Sculpture Program, 3D computer lab, and graduate studio space are housed in the Fine Arts Atelier located on Sherman Avenue.
