Undergraduate Application Deadlines

Domestic applicants should apply by the following deadlines:
Fall Semester:
November 1 – Early Action:
complete application files will be notified late December.February 15 – Traditional Action/Regular Decision:
complete application files will be notified by mid April.
Spring Semester:
November 1 – complete application files will be notified by late November.Summer Sessions:
April 1

NOTE: Application decisions will be rendered only to complete files. Decisions can not be given over the phone.

International applications should apply by the following deadlines:
Fall Semester:
November 1 – Early ActionFebruary 15 – Traditional Action
Spring Semester: September 1
Summer Sessions: February 1

Requirements for Enrollment

Students who plan to enroll at Howard University must complete and submit the following credentials:

  • Application for Admission (APPLY NOW!)
  • Nonrefundable $45 application fee, paid by money order, cashier’s check, or credit card only. Howard University does not waive application fees.
  •  Official high school transcript or GED certificate
  • Results from the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test Assessment (ACT)
  • One letter of recommendation from a high school counselor
  • One letter of recommendation from a high school teacher/professor
  • Essay
  • Portfolio (See Requirements for Portfolio Submissions)

All credentials must be received by EM/Admission by the designated deadline.

Admitted students who intend to enroll at Howard University pay a $300 non-refundable enrollment fee by May 1st to secure their place in the class. Students are considered for housing once they have been accepted and have submitted an application for housing and a $50 housing fee.
